Le microc\u00e8be Gerpi est un tout petit l\u00e9murien qui vit uniquement dans la for\u00eat tropicale humide de Sahafina, \u00e0 l\u2019est de Madagascar. Il ne mesure qu\u2019environ 13 cm (sans la queue) et p\u00e8se \u00e0 peine 65 g \u2013 grosso modo le poids d\u2019une petite pomme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Actif la nuit, il se sert de ses grands yeux ronds comme de \u201ctorches naturelles\u201d pour rep\u00e9rer insectes, fruits et fleurs sucr\u00e9es. Sa longue queue fait office de balancier quand il bondit de branche en branche, un peu comme un funambule qui garde l\u2019\u00e9quilibre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

D\u00e9couvert en 2012 par des scientifiques malgaches et allemands, le microc\u00e8be Gerpi tire son nom du groupe de recherche GERP. Malheureusement, il est aujourd\u2019hui \u201cen danger critique\u201d : la coupe des arbres r\u00e9duit sa minuscule maison foresti\u00e8re. Prot\u00e9ger la for\u00eat, c\u2019est donc prot\u00e9ger ce minuscule primate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
